In the Hellenic Heritage Museum Shops you can find a variety of publications related to the site you have just visited, replicas of items exhibited in Greece’s museums, a selection of souvenirs such as magnets, mirrors, notepads, etc., as well as home decor items, gifts, jewellery, scarves, toys, and other items inspired by the Hellenic cultural heritage.

A visit to the museum shop at an archaeological site or museum is the last step of your immersion into the Hellenic cultural heritage, while the proceeds from sales are reinvested in culture to support the work of the archaeological service.

Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) offers special discounts to employees of the Ministry of Culture, teachers, archaeologists and tour guides wishing to obtain publications and/or replicas of ancient artifacts.

Each person eligible for a discount on products or free publications will be entered into the system by name after submitting an application to the Central Service accompanied by the necessary supporting documents.

The Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) workshops produce replicas of ancient and modern works of art from museums throughout Greece: a tradition dating back 100 years and counting more than 1,000 casts, which guarantees faithful copies of exceptional quality, true to the originals.

It should be noted that the 2016 amendment of Article 2 of Law 3028/2002 on the Protection of Antiquities (now incorporated in Law 4858/2021), established that the moulds (the casts produced from the original works) and the models (the first copies produced from the moulds) shall be kept exclusively in the possession of the Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) and their circulation on the market shall be prohibited. Authentic replicas are only those that are produced with casts from the models and bear the original seal of the Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) incorporated during their production, thus preserving the high added value of the masterpieces in our museums for the Greek State.

Our replicas are available for sale at ODAP’s Museum Shops and online at our Hellenic Heritage Store, and are also sent to universities and other institutions for educational purposes.

The Monuments and Exhibits Copyist major has been added to the specializations offered by the Public Higher Vocational Training Schools. This is a new innovative programme for artists who wish to specialize in the production of faithful copies of ancient artifacts.

As part of its tasks, the competent Directorate also produces special publications, such as application dossiers for the inclusion of ancient monuments in the World Heritage List, which the Ministry of Culture submits to UNESCO, catalogues for temporary archaeological exhibitions organized by museums, as well as archaeological guides and leaflets for free distribution to visitors at 169 archaeological sites and museums.

The new café & restaurant areas are designed to reflect the character of each archaeological site and offer visitors high-quality, delicious locally-sourced products and gastronomic experiences.

Upgrading the services provided to visitors at archaeological sites and museums is one of the most important priorities of the Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) in the context of the experience economy. Leveraging its development potential, the Organization applies a modern approach to operation and aims at continuously improving the level of services offered to visitors.

Progressing steadily to its digital transformation, led by the commitment to provide better and faster services to citizens and employees, the Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) is launching the new e-Protocol service: a key web application designed to improve communication with citizens, reduce ‘red tape’, and facilitate users of the Organization’s services.

The Directorate for Studies, Projects, Surveys and Real Estate Development, through the Surveys, Cadastre and Geospatial Data Department, is responsible for carrying out cadastral procedures, topographic works and studies, and topographic surveys of archaeological sites, monuments and real estate subject to expropriation for archaeological purposes throughout Greece.

The Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) Directorate for Financial Resource Management is responsible for the validation of expenditure arising from the enforcement of court decisions on the expropriation of real estate for archaeological purposes. The competent contact department is the Budget Implementation and Payroll Processing Department, which is responsible for budget implementation and the timely payment of ODAP’s obligations.

The Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) objectives include the efficient management of the Organization’s real estate in order to increase revenues. ODAP’s real estate assets in the Medieval City of Rhodes include 210 cadastral units corresponding to approximately 350 separate sites managed by the Organization. They are located in various areas in the city of Rhodes and are divided mainly into monuments, windmills and other properties.

The Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) is the agency acting on behalf of the Ministry of Culture that has exclusive competence to monitor the flow of revenues arising from the use of archaeological sites for events, filming and photo shoots, as well as from the granting of other permits related to archaeological sites and movable and immovable monuments across the country. It has a supervisory role, performing mainly co-ordinating functions, and is responsible for the collection of revenues.

The Organization aims to simplify the procedures for issuing permits and streamline the system for collecting fees in favour of the Ministry of Culture for the cultural assets under its supervision, prioritising the achievement of these objectives in order to contribute to maximising the visibility and promotion of our rich cultural heritage both domestically and internationally, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the national economy.

Under the NSRF, the Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (ODAP) is implementing a project that involves mapping, streamlining, prototyping and developing an information system and a corresponding online platform in order to digitalise the procedures related to issuing permits for the production, reproduction and dissemination to the public, in any shape or form, of replicas and depictions of monuments belonging to the Greek State (photo shoots, filming, production of replicas, three-dimensional scans, etc.), obtaining permits for events held at archaeological sites, monuments, historical sites and museums, and collecting, monitoring and managing fees that may arise from the aforementioned activities.

Our goal is to encourage the submission of applications from Greece and abroad, to build trust between the private and public sector, to attract investments by supporting faster, standardised review of applications by the competent departments of the Ministry of Culture, reducing administrative costs by using innovative tools (robotics).

In order to obtain a permit for photo shoots at archaeological sites, museums and monuments owned by the State, whether it comes to immovable monuments in archaeological sites and historical places or elsewhere, or to movable monuments held in museums or collections of the State, the interested party must submit an application at least one (1) month before the scheduled photo shoot. The interested party must apply for a permit even if they are eligible for an exemption from fees.

Photography and filming fees for professionals depend on the equipment, the duration of the photo shoot or filming and the chosen venue.
